Working under the supervision of the SUNY Cortland FIS/GIS Manager I was responsible for the creation and upkeep of geographic information related to the SUNY Cortland campus. ArcGIS was used to map geographic information and a web based solution known as mpower was used to host the maps. Information was collected using existing documentation, or when necessary it was collected in the field using Trimble GPS units and cartographic skills. Whenever there was construction on campus I would be on site collecting valuable geographic information to then be used to keep our infrastructure maps up to date. During this paid internship I worked on many projects in a team-based environment, as well as solo projects. These assignments ranged from one day projects to weekly projects in which I provided specialized maps for whoever requested. Most of the time projects were going on simultaneously, so the ability to effectively prioritize projects was a must.
