I am the lead economic advisor to Network Rail's Southern region (covering 544 stations and 0.7bn passenger journeys a year), and manage a team of 3 people to deliver advice and analysis to the region. Our core work is the production of economic appraisals for infrastructure enhancement schemes to bid for funding from central government, ranging anywhere from £1m to £1bn.My role demands that me and my team deliver a careful balance between accuracy, robustness, and swiftness of analysis when informing internal and external clients. Problem solving is a key part of my role, where I leverage my experience of economic appraisal to quickly find an answer, or work with Python and VBA to manipulate large datasets and find answers.
