I’ve been fortunate to have multiple enriching experiences in my life, through both summer jobs and college, that have given me the opportunity to develop and hone my strengths and passions. What I have learned is that I enjoy overseeing the implementation and enforcement of rules and ideas. Within my professional fraternity I am a member of the standards board, where I assist the VP of Human Resources in updating the professional standards that all members must uphold, and then enforcing those standards throughout the semester. Strong communication and transparency are extremely important, so that all 100 members are aware of the requirements they must meet. This summer I also had the opportunity to be a lifeguard at the Glenview Park District, where rule enforcement is key to keeping the hundreds of patrons that attend the pool everyday safe. Every week, all the lifeguards were required to partake in training exercises that kept our emergency response plan and first aid response protocol fresh in our minds. It was crucial to always be prepared for even the worst of scenarios, so no one was injured. With these experiences I’ve come to find an appreciation for rules and regulations, and post-graduation would love to find a job in the compliance field, human resources, or attend law school.
