I am the Project Coordinator for the Farming for Life program, a nascent vegetable prescription program that seeks to unite the fields of Healthcare, Agriculture, and Social Services in a comprehensive approach to reducing the burdens of type 2 diabetes and food insecurity among the low-income, Latino population of Santa Barbara. I have been responsible for writing all official program documentation--informed consent, official protocol, recruitment flyers, internally developed surveys--and have secured IRB approval to conduct this research according to official protocol. I have coordinated the collaboration between all partner organizations for this project, and have worked closely with personnel from each organization to formalize roles for the program.

I perform research for Dr. Gary Small in the Department of Geriatric Psychiatry, specifically assisting with the Alzheimer's Prevention Project, a study that examines the potential benefits of a 12-week exercise, nutrition, and memory-training program in preventing Alzheimer's disease. I am responsible for teaching the nutrition curriculum to every study cohort (~7-15 people at a time), as well as administering neuropsychiatric assessments to determine the subjects' cognitive functions. In addition, I perform data entry and compile necessary paperwork packets for the research subjects.

Assisted with the day-to-day operations of an Integrative Medicine private practice in Los Angeles. Scheduled new and returning patients based on the physicians' availability, managed and updated the inventory of medical supplements prescribed to patients, and received and stocked deliveries of supplements and diagnostic laboratory results. In addition, I used Quickbooks accounting software to charge patients for appointments and purchasing supplements, while also keeping track of inventory. I also assisted in the transition from paper medical records to electronic medical record keeping, becoming quite proficient in the CHART record keeping software.
