My name is Ben and I'm an Overnight Trends Reporter at HuffPost. As a journalist, my words have previously appeared in Insider, The New York Post, The Buffalo News, The Buffalo News' Sun Newspapers and more. After over eight years in journalism, my passion — imparting critical information and informing audiences both big and small — has sparked debate, drawn national and local interest, and led to changes in the communities I've covered. Grounded in a background of community and collegiate news reporting, I've covered a variety of fields including trends, politics, entertainment, streaming, arts & culture and information technology. In 2019 and 2020, I helped remodel a publication's social media accounts after years without direction, was involved in launching two interview-based podcast series and helped rebuild a recently-moved college radio station with zero experience. During my years working part time at the Buffalo News' Sun newspapers, I wrote for a community outlet where I was able to share an array of local news/features stories -- from why a controversial church decided on moving into the Village of Blasdell to why a school district in the midst of a pandemic didn't see budget approval from town residents in a critical school year. In 2021, I took on a role with Insider's Insider Reviews team as its tech, streaming and home entertainment fellow. The role mostly focused on reviews and roundups of home tech, although I embraced covering different beats, as well, including a look back at a classic Cartoon Network series and reviews of popular hard seltzers. My focuses are manifold and although my trade hasn't centered on one element of journalism, I look to have a career that hones the ability to share relevant information to my readers and relays messages through more than just one medium (whether that be TV, print, audio or social media).
