As a visiting librarian, I regularly staffed the in-person reference desk and online chat reference service, taught instruction sessions for SUNY-Oswego's introductory writing, developed a survey on student usage and preferences for library study spaces, compared our electronic journal collection to databases we were considering purchasing to facilitate purchasing decisions, and served as a member of the library's social media, costumer service, and instruction task forces.

As a ULA, I answered reference questions during scheduled desk, chat, and outreach hours and complete various projects as assigned. I worked on projects ranging from weeding materials and selecting replacements for the career collection, discovering gaps and suggesting new books for our technology section, working with a colleague to write a report based on data from a reference survey, developing online research guides on video game development and video game studies, maintaining a recreational reading collection of fiction and non-academic non-fiction books, and designing a web site detailing the library's contributions to university theme semester programming.

Columbus, Ohio Area

As a library assistant for the South High branch of CML, I worked scheduled hours at the reference desk, filled in on circulation duties as needed, assisted in collection development and management of a portion of our non-fiction collection, and served as one of 21 branch liaisons for the implementation of CML's Job Help Centers in January 2009.
