The Library Director is the Chief Executive Officer of the Library and is responsible for the strategic planning, organization and direction of Library operations established by the Library Board of Trustees. The Director ensures the effective, efficient delivery of library services responsive to the needs of Kitsap County residents and consistent with the mission and objectives of the Kitsap Regional Library. Directly supervises 14 Branch Managers, ensuring consistent library services to neighborhood branches. Oversees staffing needs within the district; evaluates quality of services and programs at branches to ensure community needs are met; oversees development and implementation of new programs and library trends to meet needs of communities; monitors development and maintenance of library collections to meet educational, informational, cultural and recreational needs of communities; monitors facility maintenance and building needs; works with security staff and local law enforcement to ensure security at branches; represents the district and Chicago Public Library on committees, at professional meetings and civic functions; coordinates preparations for the establishment of new branch services or the opening of new branch locations. Develop, direct and manage programs, services and operations at Chicago Public Library’s newly designated regional library. Supervise unit department heads and oversee a staff of 30+ employees to ensure consistency of services for a 7 day a week, 68 hour agency. Identify and implement goals for library service to patrons of all ages including children, teen and adults. Provide oversight of the physical plan by addressing facility and security needs and work on facility planning projects with CPL administration. Serve as a member of the Chicago Public Library’s Public Services Team as well as the library’s Senior Administrative Team.

Manage grants and outside resources to deliver effective projects for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. Develop training materials and sessions/workshops for Children's Service staff on early learning and work as a team on ongoing development of Children's Services staff. Work with branch Children's Librarians to ensure that early childhood literacy competences are being met and that staff are being assisted as they learn techniques and skills.
