My core business is 401k work. I help companies manage their 401k obligations, including fiduciary governance, plan design, and plan administration. I also provide support to employees, including financial education and retirement planning. I work with 50 companies with combined 401k assets of approximately $210 million as of June 30, 2023.In addition to 401k work, I also work with individual clients. Many financial advisors focus primarily on high net worth clients, but I prefer to work with anybody who wants to move forward in a positive direction, regardless of how much money they have. I work with about 100 clients with combined assets of $34 million as of June 30, 2023.

In February 2009, at the very bottom of the financial crisis, I decided to move from Smith Barney to UBS Financial Services. In the dark days of the financial meltdown, Citigroup, the parent company of Smith Barney, sold Smith Barney to Morgan Stanley. Things were bleak. I welcomed the move to UBS and the fresh start it provided to me and my clients. I enjoyed my six years at UBS, where I continued to build my 401k and private client advisory business. Notwithstanding my positive experiences at both Smith Barney and UBS, I have known since my first year in the business that I would eventually start my own financial advisory practice, and that opportunity became a reality in May 2015.

In 2001 I sold the tutoring business and moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to my extended family. After a successful and positive experience in the tutoring business, I wanted to stay in a profession that included a lot of teaching and personal service. I found that in the financial advisory business. In particular, I found myself drawn to 401k retirement savings work because it involves a lot of people (the more the better!) and represents a slow but steady pace toward a long-term goal, an approach that matches my personality.

I owned and operated a successful tutoring business for many years. Our team of fifteen tutors ran two centers in Potomac and Bethesda, Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C. We helped young students with their core subjects and did a fair amount of SAT prep as well. A lot of math and chemistry! This was a great experience that provided a rich opportunity to work with hundreds of students in a teaching, mentoring environment.
