Growing up in rural Nova Scotia, with friends miles away, I had only 2 options to entertain myself: play outside in the woods or stay in and watch movies. Seeing as I was more likely to run into a bear than a neighbour on a sunny Saturday afternoon, I opted for the later. I watched each and every film that I could get my hands on, anything from B movies to box office hits and this is where my love of film began (specifically 1980s horror films). Fueled by my unmistakable interest in film and digital media, I entered film retailing after university graduation. Since then, I have gained over 10 years of experience in entertainment retailing, where, for instance, I single handedly: •Evaluated product catalogues based on purchasing behaviour leading to the development of targeted sales strategies, which increased media sales by 27% •Analyzed customer traffic data, which informed the planning of optimized store layouts, that when implemented improved customer flow •Catalogued and tracked $22, 000 in product deliverables, while minimizing risk of financial loss due to theft by 51%Now, I am seeking to apply my significant background in media sales and my business acumen to the industry I feel in love with all those years ago – the film industry.Just as in sales where the same results can’t be expected by treating two buyers exactly alike; every film must be dealt with individually.
