Following Nesta's full takeover of the Behavioural Insights Team in Dec 2021 I was seconded to lead Capability Development and External Training in a mat cover role. Primary responsibilities were for maintaining and extending BIT's great portfolio of capability development programmes, supporting hundreds of (primarily) senior civil servants in the UK and globally to build personal and organisational capability to use behavioural insights and behavioural science to create effective policies, programmes and BI Units.

Head of International Innovation - Development Programmes.Led Nesta's International Innovation team, examining new global trends and practices in innovation, with an emphasis on emerging economies such as the Pacific Alliance countries, China, India, Brazil and Malaysia - and what these can tell us about UK innovation and the prospects for international collaboration on innovation. The International team also built resources and networks for innovation to help the UK to flourish in a rapidly changing global economy.Led Nesta's Global Innovation Policy Accelerator, a prototype executive development programme between the UK and 14 'emerging powers' economies which is aimed at developing capability in cross-government teams of innovation policy experts and boosting international collaboration on innovation between the UK and the rest of the world.Other work included with global accounting body the ACCA and IP valuation specialists Inngot to develop an innovation accounting tool based on my work in 2014 with the Malaysian Innovation Agency, and a project examining SME collaborations for innovation between the UK and China.http://www.nesta.org.uk/users/benjamin-reid

I led and managed a range of projects for the Centre focused on open innovation activities in large corporations. Partners included GSK, Unilever, Man Group, and Google.I also led work for the Centre's range of EU projects - around design innovation and creative and digital industries collaboration.

I was latterly Head of the Creative Industries Programme at the Work Foundation, responsible for the Foundation's policy positions around the UK's thriving creative industries. Project partners included the Advertising Association, ITV, Channel 4, Google, and the Creative Industries Council.Prior to that I was part of the Foundation's Centre for Workforce Effectiveness, leading projects on innovation and social media in the workplace, and the Future of HR. Project clients and partners included: the Metropolitan Police Service, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, the Learning and Skills Improvement Service, PepsiCo Ltd, Standard Chartered Bank and the Clore Social Leadership Programme.

Worked on an extended Kuala Lumpur-based research-consultancy project for PETRONAS, the Malaysian State Oil Company.Focused on creating new systems for the development of a future pipeline of innovation-driven leaders for the organisation.

As a Research Fellow I gained funding for and led or managed a range of projects around the evaluation of management and leadership development. Project clients included RBS, Epson plc, United Biscuits, The Department for Education and Skills, The Museums, Libraries and Archives Association, the EU, The Department of Work and Pensions, The Corporate Research Forum, Haymarket Media, and The Henley HR Centre of Excellence.As Subject Leader for Electives on Henley's renowned international MBA programmes, I had responsibility for keeping the programme portfolio up to date, including performance managing academic tutors across the world, commissioning and developing new course content, and evaluating student progress across the portfolio.

I was the Ford Motor Company Research Associate, based at Henley Business School in Oxfordshire. My primary project was an evaluation of Ford's investment in key areas of management development, such as corporate MBA programmes, and the development of an approach and strategy for future adjustments to the programme portfolio and its evaluation. Undertook extensive primary research as part of the evaluation, and provided recommendations to Ford UK senior executives for their management development portfolio, including on evaluation strategy.
