I am currently a mechanical design and manufacturing student at Singapore Institute of Technology.My passion for design came about when I took design and technology in secondary school, it led me to have an ambition in seeking a career relating to design. I too enjoy problem solving as it gives me a sense of satisfaction when I get the job done. It ultimately led me to purse an engineering diploma in mechatronic and robotics, where I improved on my analytical skills and design thinking.Fast forward a couple of years, I was given an opportunity to be part of a traineeship program as a technical executive at Singapore Polytechnic. It was under scope of mechanical and manufacturing, hence I got to experience an extensive use of CAD/CAM software and machining equipment to design and fabricate my ideas. I took on a project to improve the design of the machining workshop's teaching equipment (First Person View TV Camera Stand). The project taught me the importance of integrating machining process into my designs; as there are limits to the capability of machines. To me the most important part of the project was to be on the ground to communicate with the instructors, it allows me to understand the problems they face and it helps me come up with a solution. I’ve also learnt to be more adaptable and to improvise along the way.The traineeship was an unexpected but meaning experience as I got to work in an educational/engineering field. It motivated me to continue my career in the engineering field; hopefully somewhere along the line of R&D. As cliché as it may sound, I hope that I will be able to make the world a better place through engineering and design.Other than my career pursuit, I enjoy the beauties of nature through my interest in gardening and aquascaping in my free time. These flora and fauna help me relax and unwind from the hectic world we live in, at times they also help to develop creativity. Another hobby of mine is fishing, where I geek out into the technical aspect of fishing tackles as it relates to design and engineering. But of course, hitting the waters to seek for the next catch would take precedence to the former.
