I'm an economist with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, working in Bangkok, Thailand. I have a degree in economics and a graduate qualification in public policy. Throughout my career in the public service and the private sector I've worked on various issues of infrastructure, energy, international development, trade, and planning.I currently work in the Investment and Enterprise Development Section of UNESCAP.I have previously worked in the UN System at UNCTAD, in Geneva, and UNECA, in Addis Ababa. While at UNCTAD I conducted project work, in particular regarding market access for least developed countries, and also aided developing country governments in engaging with the intergovernmental bodies meeting in Geneva. With UNECA I worked on African development planning and tracking the SDGs.Prior to my work with the United Nations, I worked for EY (Ernst & Young) and the Australian Energy Regulator in Australia. Both as a consultant and as an analyst in the public sector, I provided advice and analysis on regulation of critical infrastructure. This included policy advice, cost benefit analysis, comparative analysis of regulatory frameworks in various jurisdictions, and appraisal of business cases for infrastructure projects.I consider myself fortunate to be in a role where I can meet and seek to understand both people and economic problems from all over the world. As well as spending time with my family and in various sporting activities, providing clear analysis that helps people understand the problems they face brings me satisfaction.
