BMD Advisory Limited was founded in 2019 to provide advisory and consulting services to organisations in the Transport and Engineering sectors. The business has provided support to a range of different organisations such as SMEs, Charities and large multinational Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). Typically operating with C-Suite individuals, we listen to the issues that organisations are facing and work with them to develop strategies and plans to help improve their business and attain the positive outcomes they are looking for. Acting as an independent consultant and advisor to the Senior Leadership Team of the Alstom Digital and Integrated Systems business in the UK. Over the period a number of strategically important commissions were delivered under contract by BMD Advisory Limited to Alstom.These included:1. Creation and implementation of a work winning improvement programme developed in collaboration with Shipley to significantly increase the work winning rate of the business. The business sponsor for this programme was the Director of Business Development and Tendering.2. Undertaking a specific programme of work to review and advise on improvements to the tendering team ensure the capabilities and capacity of the team were correct for the market opportunities that were ahead of them. This included some specific support on discrete major tenders. The business sponsor for this programme was the Director of Business Development and Tendering.3. Leading on the creation of a technology development facility in Hatfield to showcase Alstom's suite of ETCS, Traffic Management and Automatic Train Operation technologies. The contract required the creation of a vision for the facility, the formation of a business case, procurement of relevant hardware and software, development of key messages and visualisations and the conversion of the physical space to a world class looking facility. The project was required to demonstrate technology to a key UK client as part of a tender process. The project took two years to deliver, was completed under budget and achieved the objective with a successful demonstration to the client in June 2022. The business sponsor for this programme was the Engineering Director.4. Development of a UK based digital strategy for the business to enable Alstom to be ready for future tender events for the UK and Ireland markets.An extremely rewarding and successful set of contracted pieces of work that has helped Alstom grow as a business and be fit for the future.

Member of the Risk and Audit committee at Enginuity since 2014 and Chair since March 2019. The committee overseas the entire Enginuity organisation including all subsidiaries. Working closely with the FD, CEO and Chair to ensure the committees work is of the highest quality and issues are raised and resolved with trustees in an efficient and timely manner.

Responsible for leading the 400 person Signalling and Communications systems Practice at Atkins. Our work covers the Road, Rail and Aviation sectors with capabilities in feasibility, design, supply chain management, construction, testing and commissioning. We also operate the in house training school which provides safety critical training for the rail industry. The practice delivers around £100m of work per year on projects right across the UK.

Responsible for leading the development of strategy and value propositions to enable the business to capitalise on this exciting future market. The transition towards a digital railway will see a fundamental shift in the established operating model of railways. The skills and competencies needed to design, build, operate and maintain railways in a digital age will be radically different to those the industry has previously relied upon. Identifying the skills needed for future generations of managers, engineers and technicians in a rapidly evolving environment is pivotal to my role and the future success of the business.

As the Director, Strategy & Change I provide focus for client engagement, market development, business strategy and growth across the entire £230m turnover Rail business within Atkins. I am accountable for the Marketing and Communications, Change, International Development and Innovation teams. I am also responsibile for the formation of the Rail business strategy and the governance of our internal investment programme.
