I taught French to students in grades 4 through 8. My students learned to communicate in the target language while simultaneously discovering the diversity and richness of global Francophone cultures. Students learned by encountering authentic resources and having meaningful interactions both with classmates and international peers.During my time at Notre Dame de Sion, I opened new lines of communication between my classroom and three classrooms at sister schools in France. This allowed written and oral communication between my students and native speakers, as well as providing a valuable tool for developing intercultural competence.Additionally, I revised middle school syllabi, worked on aligning curriculum with fellow World Language faculty, acted as a seventh- and eighth-grade homeroom teacher, and taught an elective on the history of French and European cinema.

I provided French language technical support for Garmin’s consumer products across a range of departments including automotive, fitness, outdoor and marine. Our small, multi-market bilingual team served as the principal point of contact for Garmin’s French-speaking customers in North America, predominantly located in Québec, Canada. This was a customer-facing role that relied heavily on written and verbal communication to effectively resolve technical problems, explain processes, and to document and escalate issues as necessary.

I taught group conversation and comprehension classes, as well as directing pronunciation labs and final year media studies presentations. The students taught ranged from first year undergraduates to second year Master’s students, and were at widely varying stages of their English language education. I gained experience using educational software and language labs, as well as serving on a number of end of year examination juries.

This was a one year placement fulfilled as part of my BA in French & History at the University of Warwick. I worked in three different elementary schools, teaching English to students aged 6 to 11. I taught small groups of students struggling to follow class material, as well as working side-by-side with the class teacher providing native-speaker assistance.
