As Principal Cloud Software Architect I am responsible for the overall solution architecture for the HP Anyware remote access product across multiple agile release trains (multiple groups of engineering teams, each focused on a functional area within our overall offering).I continuously support our engineering teams with new feature designs, particularly when the feature impacts cloud software architecture and user or device authentication. Examples include design of load balancing and fault tolerance strategies for HP Anyware infrastructure components, implementation of SmartCard support and OAuth support for remote access logins using HP Anyware.I am also a contributor to the HP Anyware Zero Trust solution architecture which makes use of IoT technologies to secure both local and remote endpoints using a combination of PKI, device registry, digital twins, and security policies. I consult on proposed solution designs and enable collaboration across multiple engineering value streams.Over the past 2 years, I lead a team of 4-6 (fluctuating team size) contract workers to develop our WebRTC remote access solution. We successfully delivered a production quality WebRTC remote access SDK which has shipped to market within the HP Anyware Remote System Controller.In 2022, I was accepted for HP sponsored leadership training and completed the 9-month "Growing our Leaders" program. In 2023, I completed the coursework and passed SAFe Certified Architect (Scaled Agile Framework).I frequently participate in key account conference calls to help gather detailed customer requirements and assist product management with technical diagrams, descriptions or other documentation required to estimate and prioritize customer requests. My excellent communication skills help bridge the gap between business conversations and engineering requirements.

I have managed our team of three and then four full time developers in an agile development environment. Examples of some of the features I am proud of architecting would be the StoreBuilder Data Warehouse and StoreBuilder Theme Engine. Our data warehouse is based on the popular star schema with a few enhancements to provide additional sorting capabilities without increasing physical data storage or affecting query performance. Our Theme Engine feature was initially architected by myself and then wholly implemented by my team using the specifications I provided and is an excellent portfolio piece of good software design.

My role as a team lead within the IT business applications department is to oversee a small project focused team of 3-5 developers to complete several transformational IT upgrades over the next few years. Our environment is primarily JaveEE/Oracle focused for enterprise system integration and development with a sprinkling of JavaScript and C#. We are heavily invested in the Atlassian suite of software for managing our projects including the infamous JIRA.Save-on-Foods is the market leader in online grocery in Western Canada with over 100 local eCommerce locations and growing. Save-on-foods is an innovator in this space having been the first mainstream grocer to get online.To keep up with the times a number of aggressive initiatives are in place to continuously improve the save-on-foods eCommerce platform as well as surrounding IT systems that manage customer accounts and loyalty ("More Rewards" points program). I am excited to contribute to the ongoing success of save-on-foods with the projects our web and loyalty team will deliver.

My role was initially to maintain and develop new features for Frozen Mountain's flagship product WebSync. WebSync is an implementation of the Bayeux protocol (aka "Comet") for the Microsoft technology stack (Windows, SQL Server, IIS, ASP.net). WebSync provides real-time pub-sub data messaging across a wide variety of platforms and devices. I worked on optimizations for high scalability with client counts into the 100,000's (prior to the common availability/support of web sockets, at which time long-polling was the norm). While I was hired for my experience with C#/JavaScript/MS SQL, I played a role in their initial client implementation in Java as well as some contracting with PHP integration. I also assisted in company attendance at industry tradeshows such as the Xamarin Developers Conference. The StoreBuilder product/company was born under the Frozen Mountain Software group in 2013 before being sold in March 2017 to new ownership.

This was my own business that I started while earning a degree in business management. I sold barcode and RFID related equipment online as well as doing ecommerce website development. I also built an inventory and labour tracking system for industrial equipment manufacturing and servicing (which remains in reliable production use to this day).This job taught me many real world lessons for business management. Managing two full time staff and having "jumped through all the hoops" to setup my own business, I know what it takes to setup and run a company. This real world experience increases my value to any traditional employer as I think bigger than just “my job” and am always aware of how all the pieces must fit together to keep it running (even if they are outside the scope of my position). I have experience dealing with all the various government and regulatory agencies, hiring employees and laying off employees, balancing the books and doing reconciliations, dealing with banks, payment processing, shipping carriers and more.

My primary role at Advanced Nutrients was to develop an internal CRM application to replace the expensive SalesForce.com subscription service. With the size of their sales team, the cost of the subscription CRM service was beginning to look like a programmers salary and didn't provide many significant benefits other than convenience of access. By developing our own inhouse solution it greatly simplified our ability to write new reports, perform better analysis and integrate with a variety of other systems such as Sage MAS500 accounting software. My solution was based on an application framework from Developer's Express called XAF. XAF inturn was built on a data layer/model called XPO. These technologies allowed rapid development of a full featured CRM application in about 3-6 months (of course there were other daily responsibilities that prevented 100% attention to this project).

Developed custom database software with MS Acess and C#.net to help manage data entry for inventory and time cards using barcode and RFID technology. Managed Windows Server and network of 8 workstations and 3 printers. Also performed daily tasks with SAP ERP system.
