Iii Corps And Fort Hood Public Affairs OfficerUs Army Aug 2008 - Apr 2013Fort Hood, TxSenior communications and public relations strategy advisor and planner to the commanding general of one of the largest military bases in the world. Supervise a staff of Department of the Army civilians and military personnel. In charge of internal and external communications as well as community relations, to include a robust social media presence, a weekly newspaper with a distribution of over 1 million copies a year, an internal television station, and an internet radio station.• Overhauled the Corps’ media relations program and methods of internal communication. These initiatives included building, from scratch, a world-class television studio and a world-class internet radio station, securing weekly time for the command, live on-the-air, with the region’s top-rated television and radio programs, establishing a solid social media presence for the command, and increasing the reach of the Commanding General’s weekly newspaper by making it a quality, online product. These efforts geometrically increased the reach of the organization’s message, and they were instrumental to the command’s successful communications during the tragic Nov. 5th, 2009 shootings at Fort Hood. I developed and refined the organization’s Standard Operating Procedures for tactical environments, validating these procedures in exercises in Korea, at Fort Hood, and eventually in a wartime environment in Iraq. Lead architect and executor of the communications strategy during and since the tragic Nov. 5th, 2009 shootings at Fort Hood and subsequent legal proceedings. Planned, managed, and executed messaging, press conferences, analysis and feedback, and media logistical requirements for the command with over 300 national and international media on site during the event, including a memorial ceremony attended by the President and First Lady. -

Us Army Alaska Public Affairs OfficerUs Army Oct 2001 - Jul 2004Throughout AlaskaServed as the principal public affairs adviser to the 2-star United States Army Alaska (USARAK) Commander and his 9,200 assigned soldiers and DA civilians in Alaska's three geographically separate posts. While leading a staff of soldiers and Department of the Army civilians stationed more than 350 miles apart, I developed, coordinated, synchronized, and executed vital communications operations for the command at the local, state, and national levels on issues as diverse and controversial as land encroachment, the fielding of a Stryker Brigade, the transfer of Fort Greely, multiple environmental assessments and impact statements, and reorganization and deployment of multiple units to combat, including the 20th Public Affairs Detachment, a unit under my operational control in garrison. The results were superb. During this period as the command’s primary spokesman, speech writer, and community relations officer, I was also responsible for publication of the command’s award-winning weekly newspaper, for the production of the two television command channels, and for control the organization’s internet presence, all of which were formally lauded at the US Army Pacific level and above. My consistent and personal role as the liaison between the command and the Alaska State Legislature, as well with as congressional delegation staffers, not only allowed the command to focus their attention in other areas, but empowered legislators to be in the best-informed position to assist the command. -
