I have been a full-time fifth grade teacher since 2011, where most of my experience has been teaching on the English side of a dual language immersion program. I have been an integral member of my school's Guiding Coalition since its inception in 2017, leading my colleagues in the PLC Institute pedagogy. I have developed by-student by-standard data trackers that have been implemented school wide.My current team of fifth grade teachers is high functioning and extremely collaborative. By working together to identify what students need to learn, how we'll know if they've learned it, and building systems to support students who don't learn standards the first time around, we have accelerated the learning of our students well beyond the average year's expected growth.I was also responsible for the piloting and adoption of new sexual health education materials in our district, beginning in 2017. After materials were eventually selected, I was also responsible for adapting them to better fit our district's needs. I am now the Rights, Respect, and Responsibilities trainer for our district, and lead professional development around sexual health education for our elementary, middle, and high school teachers.

I was responsible for recruiting, organizing, and leading over twenty members of the contemporary service’s band every Sunday morning and at evening practices. I also maintained a “Rolling Calendar” online scheduling document that I created with a colleague to keep the band up-to-date on the details of all upcoming events. This calendar was presented in Los Angeles at the Assistance League national conference in 2008.I left this position when the leadership was unwilling to engage with its community about issues of anti-racism and social justice.
