Under the supervision of the Regional Director for Middle East and North Africa, my role is to design, implement, and monitor development assistance provided by Sida to both Yemen and the wider Middle East North African region. The work is guided by the Swedish Regional Strategy for the Middle East and North Africa 2021-2025 and my specific contribution has been in the areas of peace and security, human rights, and humanitarian assistance.

Abuja, Nigeria

Worked under the guidance of the Senior Peace and Development Advisor in strengthening the strategic guidance of the UN system within Nigeria to better prevent and respond to conflict, insecurity, and political developments. Served as a trusted advisor to the Resident Coordinator, members of the UN Country team, and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel.● Coordinated the technical level substantive preparations towards the establishment of the Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum that provided a subnational platform for the Lake Chad region to discuss and collectively address challenges to peace, security, development and reconciliation. ● Facilitated a grassroots consultative process involving 1,100+ individuals located in Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria and wrote a discussion paper which helped frame a sub-regional discussion on stabilization, reintegration of former militants, and addressing justice and reconciliation. ● Deployed to support the African Union in drafting key elements of the African Union/Lake Chad Basin Commission Regional Stabilization Strategy, which evolved into a framework for the AU and LCBC that addressed instability and insecurity in the Lake Chad region.● Worked closely with the Vice President’s Office to develop the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) Strategy Document, which subsequently became the national framework for the Nigerian government in addressing the farmer-herder crisis. ● Working closely with the UN Peacebuilding Fund and the Human Security Trust Fund, I coordinated and helped conceptualize two inter-agency projects on addressing the farmer-herder crisis which were successfully funded to the tune of $8.3M.● Supported the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel in securing public commitments from political stakeholders to respect the outcome of the elections in the lead up to the 2019 general elections in Nigeria.

San Francisco Bay Area

Supported the Alameda County Probation Department leadership with high-quality technical and analytical advisory services to facilitate informed decision-making on improving the County’s assistance programs afforded to individuals transitioning from incarceration back into their communities. Worked to integrate an evidence-based approach to community reintegration to underpin a lasting reduction in recidivism rates.● Analyzed organizational needs and built out a portfolio of dashboards, trend analyses, and predictive modeling to strengthen evidence-based support to reintegration efforts in the county with the aim of reducing recidivism rates.● Prepared and presented monthly analyses to senior government officials, members of the public and occasionally media, detailing crime rates, responses, and overall progress of county-wide criminal justice system reform efforts. The presentations were used to provide transparency on county efforts to reduce the high crime rates, and were often followed by a series of questions and discussion (not least from concerned citizens) on the topics covered.● Worked closely with county leadership across multiple agencies to support an independent inter-agency evaluation of the implementation of Assembly Bill 109, which stipulated that high-risk individuals be transferred to county custody as opposed to state custody. The outcome was a comprehensive inter-agency evaluation that highlighted areas of strength and improvement for the County in effectively implementing the state law.● Led a period of modernization and improvement by digitizing key functions throughout the department to ensure data and analysis was more accurate and readily available to inform decision-making for community supervision and support programs.

Amman, Jordan

• Coordinated conflict analysis and resilience activities in Jordan, including managing a team of 40 staff.• Chaired the Program Steering Committee with representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Municipal Affairs, and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.• Oversaw and implemented assessments and activities with local and national government partners as well as UN agencies and donors.• Planned and hosted high-level political workshops on the regional, national and international level to increase awareness and build political support for conflict sensitive programming.• Developed assessment designs, sampling methodology and assessment tools for conflict analysis.• Trained field teams on assessment methodologies academic rigor and international best practice.• Authored reports that were published on ReliefWeb that provided analysis and presented on issues of peace, security and resilience in relation to the Syrian Crisis.• Provided tailored information and support to the OCHA and the World Bank as to how their work in Jordan could integrate conflict analysis mechanisms and streamline conflict sensitivity and resiliencebuilding.• Produced 160 community profiles highlighting the tensions and drivers of conflict on community level in northern Jordan to inform peacebuilding programming and humanitarian support in the area.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

• Managed security and public safety operations for three large commercial real estate properties in downtown D.C., including supervising 55 Special Police Officers and Security Officers.• Liaised with clients to ensure security operations superseded expectations and addressed security concerns.• Conducted trainings and simulations of different emergency scenarios to increase preparedness and awareness.• Designed standard operating procedures for all premises for various types of emergency scenarios.• Made recommendations to clients and the general public as to how to improve security routines and procedures.• Oversaw an Active Shooter simulation and combined evacuation with over 3,000 people.• In coordination with local and national law enforcement agencies, provided planning and implementation of security operations during the Presidential Inauguration Parade in downtown D.C.• Assisted FBI and local law enforcement agencies in various investigations into theft, vandalism, and armed robberies.

Uppsala, Sweden / Harare, Zimbabwe

• Coordinated security sector reform, dialogue and peacebuilding programming for the Zimbabwe Peace and Security Program, including technical support and backstopping for nine local staff as well as subcontractors.• Administered a 1.7 million dollar program budget, which included responsibility for contract negotiations with donors as well as the reporting to donors.• Designed a results matrix and monitoring and evaluation plan for the program using LFA.• Trained and provided support to staff on results-based management, M&E, reporting and conflict sensitivity as part of the technical support component.• Conducted analysis of events and trends in Zimbabwe and the region to help inform the program.• Developed a peace and stability monitoring system as an integrated early warning system for issues related to SSR and peacebuilding considered highly controversial.• Led and supported multimillion dollar proposals for donors like Norad, Sida, the EU and DfID.• Worked with UNWOMEN to mainstream gender into SSR and peacebuilding programs.• Advised on policy guidelines for Sida's civil society partners working in and on conflict.• Supported in the creation of policy guidelines on design and implementation of security sector reform initiatives for the International Security Sector Advisory Team (ISSAT).

Kathmandu, Nepal

Stockholm, Sweden

• Worked with juvenile delinquents and youth gangs to foster community safety and security.• Conducted risk analyses to identify areas needing interventions to enhance community safety.• Undertook surveillance of persons and locations suspected of being involved in criminal activity.• Collaborated closely with police, social services, schools, and youth centers to tackle issues of youth delinquency and gang affiliation in a comprehensive manner.• Documented and reported on trends of concern to juvenile delinquency in the communities surrounding Stockholm.
