October 2018 - March 2020 - Faculty of Humanities (Alliance Manchester Business School and School of Law)Working with School Research Directors to develop and implement knowledge exchange and impact activities;• Designing and delivering Impact and Knowledge Exchange workshops and events;• Providing expert advice and input to deliver impact from academic’s research;• Preparing impact case studies for various audiences• Developing monitoring and evaluation systems for impact activities and evidence• Promoting and encourage knowledge exchange and impact funding opportunities; and• Supporting grant applications through Impact Summaries and Pathway to Impact sections.

Researching possible new locations for the company's holiday products across Europe, as well as extending the current range of products offered at our Italian base. This includes researching possible new destinations, including accommodation, travel, and outdoor activities, as well as assessing the logistical challenges to take the product to market, and critically analyse the suitability of the product for our customers, and developing relationships with local suppliers and accommodation to help inform the various aspects of the holiday packages.

Responsible for delivery of Collett's holidays in the Dolomites on a day to day basis:- Overseeing welfare of the staff team of (approx. 24), including overseeing weekly team meetings and helping/advising other village managers and staff to resolve problems (both work and personal).- Overseeing daily logistics, including liaising with landlords, suppliers and contacts, organising daily airport transfers, liaising with the UK office, overseeing delivery of the outdoor programme, handling guest complaints, etc.

My research focused on the interactions between climate change mitigation, adaptation and land-use. I explored the policy synergies (overlaps) and trade-offs between different policies and legislation governing land-use and the implications this has for climate change. This research directly contributed to an EU FP7 Research Project 'LUC4C' (Land use change: assessing the net climate forcing, and options for climate change mitigation and adaptation) and drew on my previous experience of examining the institutional landscape of household coping and adaptation responses in Uganda

My research looked at the institutional dynamics surrounding household coping strategies in rural communities in developing countries to respond to climate variability. I combined a social network analysis with an institutional analysis to focus upon the informal dynamics that shape these coping strategies. Reflecting on this, I am interested in what these coping strategies mean for future adaptation to climate change. My work focused on communities in Western Uganda.

The nine month placement provided me with experience of working for a large multidisciplinary consultancy, being involved with projects that included private sustainability appraisal, public policy reviews, and engagement with a variety of voluntary organisations.
