However, adding intense training stress to life stress can be a huge mistake. This is not to say people shouldn't run to manage stress, low mood, anxiety or lose weight. There is plenty of academic evidence to support this. BUT what most people don't consider is that they need to better manage sleep, nutrition, daily physical activity, stress, and self care BEFORE adding a grueling training schedule. Once people improve baseline stress (by improving their lifestyle) work, life and running performance will benefit hugely.
