I navigated the intricacies of being employed a public Japanese servant. To do so, I led and assisted classes in public junior high schools with native teachers in Japan. I supervised foreign language activities, during and after school and I also prepared class materials and information on language and other related subjects for all of my classes. I enhanced my local hospital’s ability to effectively meet the growing needs of patient care through my volunteer work. I interacted with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals on a day-to-day basis in different medical departments in both the Shady Grove and the Takoma Park location. The departments that I visited included emergency, wound care, intensive care unit, hospitalist, radiology, cancer rehab, transcare, rehab, surgery, and oncology.

I conducted cell biology experiments on membrane assembly using Clampex software to read signals generated from data on membrane capacitance. As a student research, I was responsible for both conducting and analyzing experiments. The main research focus in this lab was ceramide channels that specificity dealt with lipids that are normally found in cell membranes. The ability of lipid self-assemble into larger and or more stable channels is anomalous in current literature. Not to mention protein regulations. Overall, the role of ceramide channels is important in apoptosis and has significant implications for future research.
