Provide a high quality project management service within the Programme Management Office of Property Services, delivering major capital construction projects with values in excess of £250,000 and as much as but not limited to £50million.Leading on all property aspects of significant capital programmes of work across all service areas of the Council, including Children’s Services, Leisure Cultural and Heritage, Social Care, etc.Attending and updating corporate project boards, steering groups and working parties on project progress, expenditure, issues, risks and opportunities.Preparation of feasibility studies, sketch schemes and budget estimates for consideration by external funding agencies and internal clients.Procurement of professional consultancies and contractors for project execution, appointment and management of design and construction teams, chairing and minute taking of progress meetings, supervision and monitoring of works on site, administration of contract procedures and certification of milestone events and payments.Preparation of Cabinet reports and member briefings, ensuring compliance with Council contract rules and financial controls, liaison with legal services in the preparation/execution of formal contracts and the resolution of disputes.

Provision of design service to all new and existing buildings, acting as planning supervisor under CDM regulationsDesign and project management of two-storey teaching block - £1 million; various small to medium sized extensions – typical value £150k - £250k; internal remodelling and refurbishment – typical value £50k - £250kEnsuring projects are carried out within budget, in line with financial regulations and on programme, management of technical staff working on specific projects Supervision of building contracts and representing the Unit at site meetings, attendance of Corporate Working Parties

Participation within a design/modernisation group to realize and implement commissions for major and minor building and maintenance worksAssist with the preparation of production/survey drawingsDevelopment of design skills and capabilities via working in collaboration with senior design team through to management of smaller projects
