Working with Rail Projects Victoria with their Network Development team, I am engaged in early strategic scoping and design work on an exciting new opportunity. The project is highly complex with many interfacing stakeholders and is proving to be a really exciting challenge. I am responsible for providing technical advice as well as managing commercials. Continuing on Regional Rail Revival, I took over as Package Manager looking after regional rail projects across Gippsland, Bendigo, Murray Basin, Ballarat, and other state wide initiatives and development projects. I lead my design teams, planning, environment and sustainability teams, site investigations teams, and systems engineering and systems assurance teams. I work very closely with my Client and key stakeholders (including V/Line, Department of Transport, Catchment Management Authorities etc) in developing delivery strategies, resolving engineering challenges, and managing the commercials and programme for the various projects. Supported by a fantastic team across Australia, NZ, Singapore, India, South Africa, Poland and England, I lead a truly global and collaborative team to bring the right expertise to my Client and our projects. I am regularly called upon to support in leadership positions and have worked as Acting Engineering Manager and Acting Director.

Working directly with the Head of Health and Safety, I am responsible for developing and implementing the global strategy for Health and Safety at Aurecon. I work with all areas and regions of the business to better understand our processes and where we can enhance our systems and procedures. My ultimate goal is to better enhance the engagement and competency of all staff and foster a deeper commitment to Health and Safety.

I started with Aurecon as a graduate. My first project was assisting with the design of Regional Rail Link Package E (RRL-E). Having been involved in the project for 6 months and demonstrated that I was a fast learner and responsible, I was engaged as a site engineer working on the Construction Phase Services of RRL-E. I inspected the piling works of 6 road and rail bridges and was responsible for the piling works at Tarneit Station which had over 250 piles for the station and platforms alone. Working on site with BLJV for 9 months was my first insight into the realm of construction and is still a career highlight.I have become the lead geotechnical site engineer in Melbourne and have completed works all around Australia. Other career highlights include working at the coal seam gas mines in Queensland staying in construction camps, staying in a town in NT that only has 5 permanent residents and working at multiple Major Hazard Facilities where I've been praised for my safety behaviour.I have completed a full range of geotechnical investigations such as working with asbestos contaminated soil, on a naval base, in state forests, marine-side, at Melbourne Airport (airside), on active construction sites, directly in the city, in the suburbs and rural greenfield sites. I have gained an understanding of the safety requirements and implications of each site with their corresponding hazards and have been able to engineer controls to ensure that the site staff and general public's safety is always maintained as the first and upmost priority. I regularly engage with my Clients and Project Stakeholders to ensure that the project progresses smoothly and give the project my fullest attention to exceed my Clients' expectations in all areas of safety, quality, timing and overall project cost. Engineering is such a fantastic career and passion with countless possibilities and opportunities. I can't wait to see what other influential projects we'll all work on!

During the Summer Vacation program at AARB Group, I worked in the laboratory conducting tests on bitumen and asphalt samples, both for research purposes and for clients directly. This opportunity taught me about the engineering properties and applications of the samples, as well as being a fantastic introduction into the world of research and business.
