Hi, I'm Berni Xiong (shUNG).I'm the author of two personal development books; contributing author of Chicken Soup for the Soul: Time to Thrive; a Maharishi Ayurveda Professional; and an experienced coach and trainer passionate about helping those who help others.In 2008, I quit my cushy corporate sales job and started a life coaching business from my living room. I had zero knowledge about starting a business and little cash reserves to fall back on. But with a $200 budget and a lot of ambition, I was hell-bent on making a positive impact in the world and no one was going to stop me. Well... except for the mystery illness that landed me in the hospital only one month into my budding business.The adage "stress kills" is no joke. For decades, I wore my “Supermom” label as a badge of honor. I got things done. Made things happen. Many times to the detriment of my well-being. What many didn’t know, I was burning the candle at both ends trying to sustain this fictional ideal.One of life's greatest gifts is experience. My experience taught me that my health is more important than the hustle. In this season of my life and career, I’m choosing meaningful projects I want to get behind. Today, I work with the dopest people in civic tech who are passionate about building better systems for government and outcomes for citizens. And I also create things and write stuff on intuitive ways to prevent burnout and promote balance for my fellow "Sandwich Gen" peers.
