Regional Administrator Medical Director
CurrentServes as CEO to the Assistant Secretary for the Louisiana Department of Health Office of Public Health (LDH/OPH) directing more than 40 Public Health programs and all administrative matters in the region.ADMINISTRATIVE Represents the Assistant Secretary on all regional administrative and programmatic concerns. Liaison between LDH/OPH and state/local governmental officials, community leaders, and other agency heads. Responsible for preparation and monitoring of parish and regional budgets. Supervises the Regional Division Directors and other regional staff as appropriate. Recruits, interviews, hires, orients, trains, assigns, and disciplines regional and parish personnel. Develops plans to implement and deliver public health services. Researches, plans, and develops strategies to access community needs. PUBLIC HEALTH Supervises the medical/clinical aspects of public health programs including, but not limited to, reproductive health, Children’s Special Health Services, STD, and TB. Assumes a medical/clinical leadership role for emergency preparedness activities and environmental health issues. Negotiates contracts and memorandums of understanding related to public health activities. Participates in the planning of, and attends, public health training programs. Provides leadership in the development of regional health promotion activities. Assures and conducts, as needed, medical clinics in OPH facilities in the region. COMMUNITY WORK Provides public health education for the general public, health care providers and elected officials. Serves as the medical issues media spokesperson for LDH/OPH. Medical/clinical LDH/OPH representative with community groups and organized medicine, and assumes a leadership role in the development of coalitions related to public health issues. Confers with medical training institutions regarding training and supervision of students in fields related to public health.
