I am a servant leader who facilitates conflict and builds consensus in the largest and most diverse system of higher education. I represent faculty in system-level decision-making to create social mobility and advance a more educated and informed world. In 2023, the Cal State Student Association (CSSA) gave me the "Faculty Excellence of the Year" award, the highest honor bestowed on a faculty member by the nearly half a million students of the CSU, and the first time they had given it to the Chair of the Academic Senate for the CSU.The Academic Senate of the California State University (ASCSU) represents the more than 28,000 faculty of the California State University (CSU) and is the official voice of the California State University faculty on academic matters of systemwide concern. The Academic Senate’s fifty-three senators are elected by the faculty at the twenty-three individual universities comprising the California State University system.
