• Oversees external communications for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) in conjunction with others on the management team. • Provides proactive public affairs counsel and other communications support to the Executive Director, including coordination for major events, the development of monthly Board reports and annual reports, speechwriting and other correspondence. • Supports the work of the Association’s policy staff and commitment to year-round… Show more • Oversees external communications for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) in conjunction with others on the management team. • Provides proactive public affairs counsel and other communications support to the Executive Director, including coordination for major events, the development of monthly Board reports and annual reports, speechwriting and other correspondence. • Supports the work of the Association’s policy staff and commitment to year-round legislative advocacy by serving as one of the primary conduits for keeping the membership updated on legislation that may impact county government through Legislative Updates, Action Alerts, the Capitol Connection electronic newsletter and other outreach. • Serves as an integral part of the Association’s conference / meeting planning team by assisting in the development of major meeting agendas, writing talking points and speeches and overseeing speakers and logistics for major functions.• Develops communications campaigns on diverse local government issues, supports special projects and identifies appropriate target audiences and avenues for information distribution. • Oversees the production and publication of Georgia County Government magazine (produced bi-monthly), the ACCG Membership Directory and other publications as well as manages content for Association’s website (www.accg.org). • Serves as the primary point of contact for media seeking information or comment on Association or local government issues. Writes and distributes press releases to promote policy positions, recognize county officials, highlight membership services accomplishments and raise awareness of other Association programs. • Tracks the implementation of the Association’s 5-year strategic plan, which is focused on increasing participation and involvement in member services, improving communications and external relations and building upon the Association’s solid foundation.
