Beth Carter is a International Student Advisor, Transitions Manager, and Albright Young Women Leaders Academic Director at Green River College. She possess expertise in community outreach, nonprofits, volunteer management, fundraising, leadership and 10 more skills. Colleagues describe her as "Beth has brought such a wealth of experience and drive to our International Programs team. She is quick, sharp, and able to see and evaluate from many perspectives. Beth has a calmness and steadiness that she is able to impart to our students, and, as a fluent Chinese speaker and world traveler, a cross cultural competency that allows her to connect with students and staff with ease. She has always stepped up to help with new initiatives and sees possibilities for innovation. In my efforts to bring more career advising into our program, she was a key player and facilitated many great workshops and meetings with students. Beth’s background in consulting, training, and teaching has made her an excellent presenter and facilitator, and also gives her the subject matter knowledge to guide our freshmen and sophomore students, who are still often uncertain about their majors. Recently, as a result of her excellent work as a drop-in advisor, Beth moved into a full-time advisor role in our Intensive English Program (IEP). IEP students often have a much lower level of English than college-ready students, and Beth has done a fabulous job reaching out to these students and breaking down information clearly and concisely. In her first few weeks, we already saw students requesting to meet with Beth, a testament to the trust and rapport she was able to quickly build. She was also able to connect so well to the somewhat fragmented faculty and staff in IEP, and be a support for them.
