  • The Tutor Trust
    Project Coordinator
The Tutor Trust Jun 2017 - Jul 2018
    Manchester, United Kingdom
Oversaw set-up and management of several projects within charity over the course of this year, including:Transition Project - a study that took place across seven feeder primary schools and two secondary schools in Salford, Greater Manchester. We worked with over 100 pupils across these schools in order to measure the effect of Tutor Trust on a young person's transition from primary to secondary school. I set up and managed the tutoring of all pupils both before and after SATs in Year 6, which meant coordinating 10 tutors across 7 schools. In between these pupils leaving primary school and starting at secondary school, I oversaw a £22.5k budget summer school in, including planning the daily structure of the school, booking facilities and activities, hiring staff to run workshops, and conducting the two week school as ‘Summer School Leader’. In this role I managed a staff team of 20 and was ultimately responsible for approximately 30 pupils per day. This project is now continuing, with pupils receiving tuition in Year 7 across the two secondary schools. We partnered with University of Manchester to gather and analyse data on this project. Liverpool Pilot - In academic year 2017/18, I led on the Tutor Trust’s pilot expansion to Liverpool. I established a relationship with six new partner schools in the city, and worked in a team to recruit 40 new tutors to meet demand from those schools. The pilot was successful, and Tutor Trust now have an office in Liverpool with a full-time member of staff.Teenage Cancer Trust - oversaw and set-up first assignments of work that our tutors did with individuals referred to us through Teenage Cancer Trust, helping to fill in gaps in their education that were lost by ongoing treatment and trauma. I left this role upon receiving a promotion to the role of Alternative Provision Coordinator, handing over to my replacement, who I work still work closely alongside.

This was a Randomised Control Trial conducted across 106 schools in Manchester and Leeds in academic year 2016/17. It included recruiting the schools to take part, setting up tuition in intervention schools, liaising with trials unit to gather data, and recording weekly registers for each school to record dosage.
