Plan, develop, and teach workshops on archival basics including: •An Introduction to Archival Management: Appraisal, Arrangement, and Description•Understanding Archives: An Introduction to Basics

Supervised and managed reference activities for all collections held by the society including archival and manuscript holdings, serials, monographs, and museum collections; oversaw public service activities including the production of brochures, the newsletter, exhibits, and the website; assisted in the coordination of external workshops, staff training and development, and other outreach activities including exhibits.

Managed all administrative activities of the University Archives and Special Collections Department for Thomas Jefferson University. Duties included acquiring and accessioning materials for the Department; providing reference service to University personnel and the general public; overseeing processing work; creating finding aids, inventories, and shelf lists; preparing exhibits; cataloging manuscript collections and University records for the Library’s Sirsi catalog as well as creating item level catalog records for photographs included in the Philadelphia Historical Digital Image Library.

Responsibilities included planning, developing, and maintaining automated access to holdings, providing access to electronic records containing constituent correspondence, and maintaining the department’s web page. Duties incorporated creating automated finding aids, providing access to holdings by creating collection, series, and item level MARC records. Developed, with the Photographic Service Department, a project to scan and digitize individual cartoons and link the image to its respective catalog record in Minaret (an in-house bibliographic system).

The GAMMA Project, a two year grant funded collaborative cataloging effort, entered over 3,000 records for manuscript collections from numerous Georgia repositories a national bibliographic database. Main duties encompassed preparing, reviewing, and editing bibliographic records for archival collections using current standards of MARC-AMC, APPM, AACR2, LCSH, and LCNAF.
