As a start up position (also known as Distribution Manager) to help Bernie's Book Bank meet its mission to increase book ownership for underserved children in Chicagoland, I engaged in building relationships with schools and organizations to adding numerous new partnerships. My solid work resulted in 900 partnerships which produced a 70% increase in overall distributions from when I first started. I continually set short-term and long-term goals and regularly and successfully attained positive outcomes. I seamlessly managed to enter and maintain annual enrollment data in Salesforce that was well over 5,000 data points. I made major contributions to Bernie’s Book Bank pandemic work by being intricately involved in distributing over 600,000 books in five months. I am continually involved in Team building as a respected co-worker among my peers. I always view my work through the lens of the mission and vision of Bernie’s Book Bank. I am a problem-solver who always looked for improved ways to communicate our message, our mission, and meet expectations all while meeting the distribution needs of those served by Bernie’s Book Bank.

Beginning in January every year, I would meet with my Co-Director to begin the planning process of the week long summer culture camp for kindergarten through high school Korean adoptees. Updated registration information, mailed and email registration packets, planned programming including finding experienced help from the Korean Community for the culture part of camp, confirmed volunteer help, planned budget and confirmed logistical items. Intricately involved with the planning of the High School program. Over saw the daily running of camp and managed all items related to that. I was instrumental in working to get our own website up and running. I worked on succession planning for the camp director positions and other volunteer positions so that camp can continue to thrive. I prepared a budget ($15,000) and managed expenses and revenues as well as reserves. Oversaw all aspects of camp start to finish to assure a positive experience for the 80+ families that participate. I have an amazing 20 years of volunteer work with Camp Pride Korea; the last six as My last six years as Co-Director.

Long Grove, Il

Developed a relationship with the Long Grove Park District to offer a regular and ongoing Family Book Club event during the academic school year. My partner and I read and selected enjoyable children's literature for families of 2nd-5th grade students, planned and developed 90 minute programming related to the book(s). Through our contacts and Facebook page we reached out to promote our events. We used the park district website for registration and hosting location. Families read the material ahead of time and we used a variety of activities resulting in 90 minutes of fun for everyone! The Reed Turner Nature Center in Long Gove served as a perfect venue for inspiring readers and family fun!

I was part of the Office Team my first five years at Kildeer. The school office is instrumental in the smooth operations of a school and keeping teachers, administration, students and families happy and allowing them the opportunity for a positive experience.The next 11 years I was instrumental in the running of the Learning Center. In partnership with the Certified Teacher I managed the 18,000 book collection. I researched new titles to make suggestions for purchases, researched standard practices for keeping collections current according to industry standards and removed out-of-date materials. I brainstormed new ways to increase circulation and student reading enjoyment. I subbed for the Certified Teacher as needed. I was actively involved in planning and executing Illinois Family Reading Night every November at Kildeer. Explored and implemented new ways like contests to encourage students to checkout and read books. I received award recognition for my work.
