Throughout my 2nd and 3rd years of university I wrote several articles for The Gryphon's fashion section. These included analysis of on-screen style in shows such as Bridgerton and Euphoria, reviewing current trends, coverage of events including Leeds RAG Fashion Show, and an interview with local designer and owner of Tråd Collective Jo Wanner. Throughout this time I developed and improved my skills as a journalist and writer, going on to be Fashion Print Editor in my second year at The Gryphon.

Throughout my time as Fashion Print Editor at The Gryphon I worked alongside an Online Editor on managing the fashion section and its writers, creating and editing articles for the section, and was awarded for bringing the Fashion section to 'it's highest standard in years' by the Editor-In-Chief. I was responsible for editing all articles for print, and creating the layout of the section pages via Adobe InDesign. The role required me to keep my finger on the pulse of the latest news, upcoming events, and developing trends in the fashion industry and to co-design the creative direction of our section of the newspaper. I effectively communicated with writers on their article pitches throughout the role, whilst keeping all content diverse in its style and topic and on theme for each issue. During my time as editor I brought student photography into the fashion section through curating and co-writing a piece on student fashion alongside another writer and student photographer. Whilst in role as editor I completed a News Associates Student Media Editorial Leadership course. This was a really valuable experience which hugely enhanced my understanding of the wider news industry.
