I began prompting in the mid-'80s when Courtney Goodin invented the electronic teleprompter (the Compu=Prompt system) and sent one to Dallas to see if he could generate any interest. My husband, Mitch Bird, and I branched off on our own a few years after that to begin TexPrompt. Assisted in many aspects of in-house Video Production for Xerox Corporation in Addison, TX: lighting, camera, computer and equipment tech, grip and grip electric. Learned their computers, facsimile and word processing machines for daily tasks and for the purpose of producing demonstration videos. Helped build and install a new video studio and post production facility under the direction and tutelage of Tom Lawrence and Chris Nicolau from Tele-Image, Inc., and Dave Ort, my supervisor at Xerox VPS.
