I've been working as an instructional designer, trainer, and teacher for the past 13 years, and I love my work! Designing instruction that ultimately helps my students and trainees learn and grow is my passion. I'm also a natural-born leader and love to take on new projects and challenges. Here is a little bit more about what I do.Instructional Design: I design instruction for Adult Basic Education and ESL students as well as for other teachers and clients. Over the years, I have managed several training projects for education, natural gas, insurance, and manufacturing clients. I design instruction on a variety of topics, such as distance education, lean manufacturing, employee onboarding, customer service, sales techniques, and workplace soft skills. I've used a variety of design tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, Dreamweaver, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Google Sites, Google Classroom, Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, Zoom, Adobe Connect, and GoToMeeting. Trainer: As a trainer, I facilitate traditional and face-to-face training programs. This past year, I worked on a team to plan, design, and deliver an online training program for other educational institutions across Pennsylvania, which enabled them to offer distance learning as a means to supplement traditional instruction. We are now acting as distance learning consultants for educators across the nation. Additionally, I am the In-House PD Specialist for the PA Distance Learning Project. In this role, I complete needs assessments to determine employee PD requirements and either recommend existing activities or design instruction to meet needs.Teacher: My students are all adults with various goals, including obtaining their Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma, learning or improving English skills, obtaining a job or finding a better one, and/or getting into college. As a teacher, I am also charged with selecting and evaluating curricula to meet the diverse needs of our student population. Over the years, our team has used several products, including Edmentum, IXL, Fast Forward, WIN, Essential Education, Newsela, Learning Upgrade, Khan Academy, USA Learns, Burlington English, and Voxy. Finally, as the leader of our program improvement team, I set objectives, monitor progress, and establish and communicate policies to improve student and teacher outcomes.
