History Teacher

I have been teaching roughly 14 classes of 30 students a week. This includes lesson planning, marking books, creating schemes of work, inputting data, liaising with pupils and parents, attending training sessions on pedagogy and safeguarding, and running revision sessions. I have also been a mentor to trainee teachers which has included liaising with the University and offering feedback; I have assisted with Curriculum Leader duties; and I have been an AQA GCSE examiner for two years in order to help our students reach their maximum potential.

Student Opportunities Coordinator

My role at HUSU was multi-faceted, as I was responsible for all Society activities and the planning and running of Give It A Go events. As a Society Coordinator, I provided support to over 2500 students. I created 50 page long interactive online training modules for committee members; mediated society meetings to help resolve conflict; and was the main contact for any issue the society had. I created agendas and ran Society Councils (large meetings to inform Society Presidents about everything happening within the SU), and created a brand-new Society newsletter which was sent to students on a monthly basis. I approved risk assessments and claims forms, and supported societies in running their own events and trips (including the booking of coaches). My greatest achievement was creating a brand-new reward and recognition scheme for student volunteers in which their society could win cash prizes by receiving a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. I organised our first ever Society Awards event in which the result of this recognition scheme was announced. As a Give It A Go Coordinator, I was responsible for creating and planning all Give It A Go events throughout the year which included reaching out to external companies asking for their collaboration; collecting risk assessments and public liabilities; creating risk assessments; forming event timetables; writing biographies and uploading this to our website; and making cost spreadsheets to ensure that we stayed in budget. I was also in charge of all Society and Sports Club Taster Sessions which meant creating forms and collating data, liaising with Presidents, and booking rooms. I generated event posters and in particular worked with our Marketing Team to help promote events via social media. In addition to this, I was responsible for the hiring and training of staff. I also made rotas and worked alongside them during events to offer support.

Marketing, Events And Lettings Executive

Hull, United Kingdom

My role at Accommodation Warehouse has been incredibly varied. As soon as I joined the company, I was put in charge of liaising with website designers, single-handedly creating content for our brand-new website and being the sole creator of our various blogs and property pages. This has built my confidence in the utilisation of WordPress, HTML and Google Ads/Analytics. I have also been put in charge of our various social media pages, mainly Facebook and Instagram, and have revitalised the way we use social media through posts, competitions, giveaways and multimedia. I am responsible for creating competitions, buying prizes and organising our events which have taken place at bars and University. I am often photographing our 180 properties and then creating housing content and bios; I then place them on property selling websites such as StuRents and SpareRoom. In addition to managing all marketing in the office, I am also a Lettings Advisor which involves communicating and building relationships with University of Hull students, taking them on housing tours in my own vehicle and then selling them properties. I also provide cover as an administrative assistant during lunch breaks.

Hull History Centre

Hull, United Kingdom

As a Temporary Archivist at Hull History Centre, I was responsible for acquiring, managing and photographing primary documents on behalf of a lecturer at The University of Essex. These documents are now going to form the basis of her book which is being published by Routledge in late 2019. I will soon be delivering a presentation at the History Centre discussing the primary documents I worked with.

As an on-call customer service assistant, I was often called in to cover when members of staff phoned in ill or were on holiday. This required me to be extremely flexible and reliable at all times. As a temporary Intern on the Treatied Spaces project, I collected research on the way treaties between the Iroquois confederacy and Anglo-Americans had an impact on sovereignty, Native American culture and the environment. This research, which centred around The Treaty of Fort Stanwix (1768), provided a foundation for an upcoming living history module entitled ‘Paths through the Woods: The Treaty of Fort Stanwix’ being offered at The University of Hull. The primary research I collated will be used to support students in the module seminar groups.https://treatiedspaces.com/bethany-ramsden/My admin duties involved managing and distributing research information, contacting potential fund sources and academics, recording minutes in meetings, planning and scheduling, managing files, proofreading documents and bookkeeping.

Sales Assistant

Hull, United Kingdom

For a year and a half, I worked at the biggest GAME store in England and the third biggest in Europe. My job role was to serve customers on the cash register and to continually put out stock whilst keeping the store neat and tidy. This role also required me to be able to persuade and promote effectively, as I had to encourage customers to buy phones and new consoles. My strong customer service skills aided me in this role, as I am able to confidently speak to customers with eloquence and charm. Although I do not know much about games or electronics, I adapted to the environment by putting in all my effort to learn as much as I could so I could go above and beyond as an employee.

Supervisor

Cleethorpes

For two years, I worked in a Haven Holiday Park as a Supervisor in Burger King. This role entailed implementing health and safety rules, recruiting, training staff, creating rotas, documenting grievances and absences, terminating staff members and dealing with customer complaints. Being given the role of Supervisor at the age of eighteen is indicative of the hard work I put into everything I do as I always aim to go the extra mile.

For one season, I worked at a busy family theme park serving customers, waitressing and handling food.
