As a Spanish Teacher at Pierce School, my responsibility is to interpret and follow the curriculum provided by the Public Schools of Brookline Department of World Languages, which uses the ACTFL guidelines for language acquisition. I create lesson plans for my 2nd and 3rd grade students keeping the curriculum in mind, while also trying to tie in fun culturally relevant and engaging activities. For example, they loved the lesson on family members that involved listening to songs from the Disney movie "Encanto", and they continued discussing that lesson for weeks!

In my position as an Auxiliar de Conversación or English Language Assistant at CEIP Federico García Lorca in Madrid, Spain, I prepared daily activities and lessons for primary school students studying English as a second language. I also conversed with students to demonstrate correct pronunciation of English words and encouraged students and Spanish colleagues to learn about and embrace cultural differences between the U.S. and Spain.

As Administrative Assistant to the CofC Center for International Education, I completed day to day administrative tasks for the office, such as taking phone calls and updating student files and maintained correspondence with international students, domestic students and school faculty throughout various departments. Additionally I created an introductory handbook for international students with important information about College of Charleston and living in the US, and I provided some assistance and advice at orientation fairs or in-office to both incoming and current students interested in studying abroad.
