Many gripe about the injustices of the world. Few take action and get things done. I have to admit, I fall into both camps but let’s face it, it often takes some griping to get motivated to DO something!I’m a bit of a Swiss Army Knife, one tool for many purposes, yet, there are a few consistent threads in the numerous roles I play. See if you can spot them as you read my “bio.”OWNER: I grew up in my parent’s small business. My interest grew in accounting because I saw that money and understanding finance were key to my parents’ success. I’m a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor, accountant, and owner of a busy bookkeeping business, FranBooks.BUSINESS OWNER ADVOCATE: My entire business is focused on helping small businesses, especially franchises, be successful. The franchise focus evolved because I saw that both franchisees and franchisors needed help. I now have a team of dedicated bookkeepers who keep hundreds of owners in business and out of bookkeeping trouble!NONPROFIT FOUNDER: Like many, our family has been touched by drug addiction and sadly, our son died of an overdose several years ago. As we learned more, I realized that there were few resources for families who are touched by addiction and for first responders to help those families. I started a nonprofit called Brave Choices to serve these needs. Soon, we evolved to serve many more addiction-related needs.DIRECTOR OF CLIENT ADVOCACY: My role at Brave Choices led to relationships with other nonprofits, first responders, and politicians. One of those relationships was with Reach for Tomorrow and ultimately led to my becoming their Client Advocacy Director. GET OUT OF TROUBLE-MAKER: As you can see, my clients have the potential to get into trouble: Incorrect bookkeeping, drugs, human trafficking, etc. Rather than sit behind a desk, I’m the one who gets a call and makes things happen. Am I always popular? Not by a long-shot! Do I get it done? YES!
