Betsy Lee, RN, BSN, MSPH, is an independent consultant and recognized national expert in patient safety, quality improvement and nursing vitality. From 2006 – 2014, she was the director of the Indiana Patient Safety Center (IPSC) at the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA). In that role, she led statewide efforts to facilitate the development of safe and reliable systems to prevent harm to patients for eight years. She also served as the program director for the IHA Coalition for Care Hospital Engagement Network, affiliated with the American Hospital Association Health Research and Educational Trust, a federally funded initiative through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Partnership for Patients program.Betsy is active in fostering the advancement of nursing leadership through patient safety engagement in Indiana. As a past board member for the Indiana Center for Nursing and member of the Indiana Action Coalition: Transforming Healthcare Steering Committee, she promotes the goals of the Institute of Medicine Future of Nursing report and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Campaign for Action. She previously served on the steering committees for the Indiana Healthcare Acquired Infections and Pressure Ulcer Collaboratives, as well as on the Indiana Antibiotic Resistance Advisory Committee for the Indiana State Department of Health.
