When I explain my job to people outside wealth management, I can see their eyes start to glaze over. Most people haven't been inside the complicated machine that is investing and finance. With over twenty years of experience in the field from Clifton Gunderson Financial Services to Ferris, Baker Watts to my current position as Director of Operations at Jacob William Advisory, I've developed a deep understanding and passion for that world. Handling operations is work that requires a careful eye on many moving gears. There are countless account applications, transfers, distributions, and all the tiny and variable details that ensure clients' funds are seamlessly managed. But I love what I do because caring for all those pieces adds up to a positive experience for my clients.While a neighbor may not be eager to learn about account liquidation, payments or financial management software, I know my clients are. I keep clients in the loop when it comes to the movement of their accounts. Whether a client transfers over one account or twelve, I coordinate every step, even if that means filling out forms to save clients time. For me, it's more than just IRAs and CDs, faxes and forms; it's about keeping clients' portfolios well-oiled machines so they can feel secure and informed about their investments.
