On Presidio Networked Solutions Contract- Contractor for DHS/CBP

Supported and assisted the Data Engineering Branch (DEB) Chief and program manager in developing and implementing data management (DM) programs that are aligned with CBP and DHS initiatives. Achieved CBP data management goals, reviewed project schedules where appropriate, interpreted and responded to DHS data calls and attended DHS Data Management Working Group meetings. Assist in interpreting and responding to data calls from CBP Executive Directors and DHS.Provided guidance and advice to Program Office personnel primarily for Data Administration and Data Governance for creating physical database models using Cool:Gen and CA Erwin Data Modeler. Developed CBP data standards to be used as guidance by CBP’s program offices and governance bodies. Supported data management users group including facilitation, scheduling, and organizing meetings and agendas. Drafted business questions for the enterprise data management requirements meetings to be used to collect metadata requirements from program offices. The results are used to help determine the design requirements and for database model and script implementation. Collaborated with Development Task personnel to capture Business Requirements converting them into models in the Erwin Repository. Performed requirements gathering, data analysis, data modeling, business process re-engineering and data mapping and related metadata. Documented and analyzed business processes and performed data analysis. Utilized system development life cycle (SDLC) methodology to define departmental requirements.

Reviewed the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Records Management guidelines. Identified and documented the requirements that matched the client needs.Worked with the developer to incorporate the requirements in the design of the Records Management Inventory Repository System prototype. Performed Testing of the application to ensure the requirements were met.

Provided consulting support for the roll-out of the meta-data repository pilot prototype. Performed Testing and validation of the initial conceptual metadata repository prototype used to get buy-in from stakeholders and management. Worked as part of a team to define detailed design specs and scope for pilot. The scope of metadata repository was based on technical issues and the U.S. Coast Guard’s metadata repository metamodel. Created and documented metadata reporting requirements and test results to be produced for the pilot.

Facilitated CBP’s NIEM working group responsible for mapping CBP’s data requirements into the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) (an XML data model jointly owned by DHS and Department of Justice (DOJ)), and used as basis to exchange messages for data sharing purposes between law enforcement stakeholders.Gathered and evaluated data requirements to create UML models and imported the generated code.Developed Outreach and Education materials; Interfaced with senior government officials to develop requirement and messaging to raise awareness and visibility of the data governance projectParticipated in a cross-DHS team to consolidate and harmonize interagency U.S. Customs/Trade specific data requirements, eliminate metadata redundancies, and identify metadata reuse opportunities.

Provided leadership and direction in Data Administration activities, including the development of Data Management Process Documentation for process improvement, align standards following SDLC processes. Participated in data model reviews at critical gate review stages to ensure all new models meet CBP's data modeling and naming standards and that models align to CBP's enterprise logical/physical data model and enterprise conceptual data model (ECDM).Reviewed and updated data management plans presented by the program offices as part of the Design Stage review process. Supported program offices if needed with revision of the plans in order to ensure completeness. Conducted user Administration of the Erwin Modelmart as well as the Cool:Gen Encyclopedia.

Contractor for HUDTested the Single Family Acquired Asset Management System (SAMS) and Debt Collection And Management System (DCAMS) applications to ensure the application function as designed. Wrote and executed scripts to test the basic functionality and performance of the systems. Assisted the client in the identification, analysis, and resolution of business and system-related problems. Used the DB2 QMF reporting facility to verify and validate the data and provided test results to Team Lead.
