After 5½ successful years as an independent consultant, Head of Content for Tes SEN Show and VSEND Content Manager, I am excited to share details of my new role as Exhibition Director, Mark Allen Exhibitions. Responsible for brands Tes SEND Show, Music & Drama Education Expo and Nursery World Show, ensuring each event meets the needs of the target audience, improves attendance and increase market share. Leading growth across exhibition brands through the design of compelling products to deliver world-class customer experiences, sustainable revenue and profit growth. Management of exhibitions from floorplan and feature design to sales and developing lasting, commercial, industry relationships. Outside work I am Safeguarding Governor at a local Special School for children and young people with behaviour or emotional difficulties. Improving the world view of equality, disability and disadvantage is incredibly important to me and something I strive for in all I do. The SEND Gateway has enabled the education workforce to develop new skills and understanding of special educational needs.This role included responsibility for lead project management of the SEND Gateway, reporting quarterly to the DfE on KPIs, budget management, governance and key achievements. This responsibility was managed alongside existing Professional Development Management responsibilities.With an emphasis on strategic planning, this role included responsibility for the sustainability of the SEND Gateway and its links to nasen’s e-learning platform, launched in Spring 2016. This included liaison with colleagues at a variety of leading voluntary and community sector organisations in support of the 2014 SEND Code of Practice: 0 – 25. -
Professional Development ManagerNasen May 2004 - May 2016Tamworth, StaffordshirePlanning and operational delivery of 7,500 DfE funded training places for special educational needs co-ordinators (SENCOs), and 3,600 delegate places at events in support of consultation on the 2014 SEND Code of Practice: 0 – 25. In addition to DfE funded training, each year I delivered up to 2,800 delegate places at nasen’s flagship event nasen Live as well as bespoke training events identified by schools and Local Authority groups. This role also involved working closely with i2i Events, Event Directors for the Bett Show and The Education Show to curate SEN Learn Live programmes for each event and identify special speakers and presenters.I was responsible for planning and organisation all events run or attended by nasen including writing and designing promotional material, identifying trainers, keynote speakers and contracting venues. In 2010 I was also responsible for planning and organization of nasen’s first solely run exhibition, nasen Live. -

Nasen is a membership organisation that relies heavily on membership subscription. I was asked to investigate and develop new income streams including training services, which is now a major income generator for nasen that attracts significant government funding. -
