Manager of a logistics unit based in Camp Bastion, Afghanistan responsible for: • The day-to-day running of an automatous air/surface logistics site.• Interaction with US and British military commands for operational effectiveness and civilian contractors • The co-ordination of cargo aircraft ground handling including all wide body types. • Cargo preparation for flight and delivery of inbound freight, • The serviceability of a dedicated transport fleet• A multi cultural workforce • A large accommodation and cargo storage site• Liaison with military organisations including regional operations and security/counter intelligence cells• Oversee directly the aircraft unload/load and associated paperwork• Preparation of all the AC paperwork required (DGD’s/NOTOC’s as required)• Maintaining compliance with all military base regulations such as personnel registration/Badging vehicle registration.• Liaison with customers as part of the overall manager’s role in promoting my employer’s business.

As a military reservist I was a member of 4624 Sqn based at RAF Brize Norton where I qualified and worked as a Movements Controller. This was partly concurrent with my employment with Chiltern Railways. My military role included;• Maintaining personal deployable standards to Controller level. This is a high level of qualification to enable independent management of RAF aircraft loading teams worldwide.• Regular short deployments including ‘as required’ weight and balance calculations and all passenger and freight handling. • Preparation of passenger and cargo paperwork to International standards including Dangerous Goods.• Passenger processing to military and ICAO standards at RAF and civilian bases.• Qualified operation of various specialised vehicles.• Working in both team leader and team member situations with both regular and auxiliary RAF personnel.

In this role I was the first for point of call for customers contacting Chiltern Railways, one of the UK regional operating companies. Specific skills attained included handling reports of damage to the railway track that could be hazardous to trains and the general public such as damage to the Level Crossings on our line. Additionally, how to handle telephone bomb threats using a checklist to try and gain as much information as possible for passing onto the authorities. • First point of contact for customer telephone enquiries.• Dealing with written queries and complaints.• Maintaining local information databases and interaction with other relevant organisations.• Answering general train timetable enquiries
