Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) - Members of PFAC are instrumental in reviewing and supporting HOMERun’s engagement of Hospitalists, Researchers and Hospital Medicine Groups at leading medical center nationwide, accelerating the discovery and swift implementation of quality care.

Telligen Beneficiary and Family Advisory Council member Beverly Rogers has been engaged with the healthcare system and the community for many years. She retired as a director of the American Hospital Association (AHA) after a diagnosis of breast cancer. Her breast cancer journey was a wake-up call to advocate for education, research and women’s health, which led to a staff position at Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization.Rogers’ husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease after 29 years of marriage. Her knowledge and experiences with the healthcare system helped her navigate Medicare for 12 years to ensure he received quality care from myriad healthcare professionals, agencies and staff.These challenges cemented her commitment to patient-centered healthcare. In addition to her work with Telligen, Rogers champions the needs of caregivers by facilitating a support group through her church. She is very involved with the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), which helps patients make informed choices about healthcare options. She is a member of PCORI’s patient engagement advisory panel and serves as an ambassador and a peer and merit reviewer of research studies funded by PCORI, holding an Institutional Review Board (IRB) certification.“Healthcare providers have many challenges to provide quality care to Medicare recipients and their families as they navigate the system,” Rogers says. “I believe adding my perspective increases the possibilities for patients to be informed in order to communicate more effectively with their provider. I choose to participate with Telligen because they value voices from patients, family caregivers and the aging population.”

PCORI’ mission is to help people make informed healthcare decisions, and improve healthcare delivery and outcomes, by producing and promoting high-integrity, evidence-based information that comes from research guided by patients, caregivers, and the broader healthcare community.

Beginning September 2016, will participate with researchers on project that focuses on patient-centered education and engagement.

The path at Y-ME started as volunteer survivor as peer hotline counselor, volunteer trainer and support group facilitator. The Director position was liaison and resource to 23 affiliate groups across the U.S. The position required leadership to chapter leaders in business development, marketing and recruitment education and implementing compliance guidelines.

As executive director fo 2 professional membership associations, provided leadership, strategic directions, orientation and support to 2 boards of directors, 22 committees and 120 affiliated chapters. With the support of 5 employees, successfully lead ASHHRA out of $144,000 debt with 2 years of leadership; coordinated membership campaigns that increased membership by 35% within one year; received the AHA employee service award and bonus 3 years in a row.
