Patent applications Brian drafted have been successfully enforced against third parties in the advanced manufacturing and computer interface industries to obtain significant settlements and have also survived patentable subject matter challenges (in the US and UK). Brian drafted many early and influential (by citation count) blockchain / distributed ledger, and private computing granted patents. Brian's background is in electrical engineering, and has successfully guided patent applications to granted patents in respect of technologies relating to machine learning / artificial intelligence (both foundational and applied technologies, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning), blockchains / distributed ledger technologies, cryptography, telecommunications (satellite, data routing), biometrics, power electronics, computer science (database structures), control systems, ride-sharing, autonomous vehicles, smart home / sensors, among others.
