I had three intensive IP terms (1L, 2L, Articling), where I supported legal research mandates and drafting in respect of major intellectual property litigation relating to trademark (household paper products) and patent disputes (pharmaceuticals). I also prepared routine cease and desist letters (pirated software) and assisted with raids (luxury counterfeits) for copyright and trademark infringement.

The engagements primarily focused on enterprise level business transformation projects (e.g., ERP implementations, cybersecurity / disaster recovery, and mergers and acquisitions. My major projects included technology strategy for a startup telecommunications company following a successful spectrum auction bid, and a post-merger integration of two financial data processing companies based on a roll up strategy to establish a shared services backend for portfolio companies (the roll up yielding a 13.5x return on invested capital / approximately 40% IRR on exit several years after the merger).

I was an engagement manager leading two separate teams of student consultants. Both engagements were directed to address specific strategy questions, and the teams conducted primary research (market sizing and demographics) with customers and stakeholders (board members, vendors, donors) to empirically assess hypotheses and rank identified service expansion options. Recommendations were used by our principal to support strategy and budget allocations for the next fiscal year. Strategic recommendations included vendor selection to optimize volume purchasing and simplified service delivery models.

Ibm Canada Software Lab

Tivoli Provisioning Manager is a software platform coordinating hypervisor-level hardware and software provisioning, used for deploying virtual machines and controlling configuration for backend data centers or front-end terminals. My work involved writing automation scripts for multi-environment testing and after "gold" release, supporting early adopter enterprise customers with iterative bug fixes to address interoperability issues. I also set up and tested the proof of concept test environment in the data center / heavy lab.
