Currently seeking employment. For the past, almost 6 years I've been employed full time by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation as a CD Counselor. I have worked adult males and females as well as, but not at Hazelden Betty Ford, soon to be released Federal BOP inmates. Recently at Hazelden Betty Ford my focus has shifted from work on the medical intake unit, to patient assessment and level of care recommendation. This has been interesting but I feel the need to get back to working with patients and their families.Most of my professional life was spent in Higher Education at Augsburg College. I have decided now to take a new path, one that has meaning for me. I completed a second Masters degree, this time in Addiction Counseling from Hazelden. My internship experience focused on working with adult men and women in primary care as well as the indigent still in active addiction. I have employed Twelve Step Facilitation, CBT, Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing. My work with clients ranges from assessment and case management through individual and group therapy. I am certified and licensed by the MN Board of Behavioral Health. While working on the medical intake unit a great deal of crisis management was required. I work well in a team, or solo depending on the situation.Specialties: Chemical dependency counseling from intake, through treatment (both IP and OP) and into continuing care.
