But why does it have to be limited to a lab?It takes passion and critical thinking to bring something new to the table. But it takes a different kind of expert to take those discoveries and give them to the world. As an entomologist, I am on a science rollercoaster: Biological control? ✔ Invasive species? ✔ Ecology? ✔ Tool development? ✔ Integrated Pest Management? ✔ Scientific literacy? ✔Discovery is a great thing. But it can be a waste if you can not convince people why it is important. My experiences have been dappled with clinical health, public health, invasion biology, biogeography and systematics, ecology and physiology, and more. And throughout, communicating complex ideas has always been the most valuable skill to cultivate.During the last 10 years I can say I have:◙ Learned to communicate in as many as 30 scientific disciplines.◙ Used them to routinely publish knowledge in every working community I have touched. ◙ Adventures in over 20 types of work, and have the confidence to adapt to any problem. ◙ Proven this in hundreds of audiences ranging from student to senator.But my greatest accomplishment is always the chance to build a bridge from me to you.Whether you are pushing the envelope or just need to get the job done, the world is complicated.
