In addition upgrading IT billing systems and education the revenue cycle staff on the new processes. •Develop a physician portal for the Medical Staff, physicians can now access their patients records remotely & electronically sign their records. This contributed to the reduction of the DNFB and increased cash flow through timely billing along with instituting a documentation specialist program for physicians.• Reduced operating expenses $3.5 million over a two year period through a new GPO contract, new supplier contracts and the standardization of supply purchasing. •Created & chaired the Hospital’s wide Value Analysis Committee to standardize supplies. •Successfully developed and implemented strategic and operational plans for the finance department that addressed the mission, medical staff development issues (Physician Portal), HIPPA, charity care and patient access.•Developed daily dashboards to assist department managers in the operation of their cost centers. •Merged two financially distressed hospitals in the US Bankruptcy Court both located in medically underserved areas. Responsibilities included daily court proceedings, development of the Plan of Reorganization, included bond issue covenant revisions and negotiated new contracts & agreements with all classes of creditors. •Converted one hospital’s original taxable bond issue from taxable to a new tax exempt issue. •The merger included consolidating all operations, inpatient surgery, emergency departments and contract negotiations for all financial operations of the new system. The result was a single multi hospital system. •Increased net revenue $3 million through Revenue cycle improvements and new provider contracts. •Reduced operating expenses of the two institutions $2.5 million in three years through standardization, new vendor contracts & implemented cost containment programs system including outsourcing the IT Systems. •Responsible for the Prison Health Care Contract (lock inpatient unit) with the City of Philadelphia including the oversight of the inpatient unit in the Hospital and offsite clinic sites at the prisons.
