I am back in software development.

I joined Guardian Analytics after it signed its first customer. When I departed, it had over 350.I took on sole responsibility for development of the main user interface: A browser-based, Fraud analytics tool. I converted it from a single-tenant, installed-on-premise application to a reliable, multi-tenant, SaaS. I redesigned major components to deliver a rich, visual experience, using AJAX, JSON and RESTFul technologies and performed all the r&d to do with upgrades to the middleware (Seam, Richfaces, JBoss AS). I helped redesign the entire MySQL database warehouse and developed a data access layer to generate complex sets of queries, to pinpoint data out of terabyte sized databases. I became a Technical Director in 2011, overseeing 4 other developers to research and introduce new features and middleware such as OpenAM SSO and DataStax (Cassandra & Solr), In different roles I was mentor, project planner, visionary and advisor.

A short exploratory trip into Technical Sales. It didn't work out. What can I say?

Working with a top Trader, I designed and built (from scratch ) a High Frequency Trading System which traded Futures on the Chicago Merchantile Exchange. Within 12 months it was up and running and continued operating for 5 years, during which time it never had a negative P&L day due to any software defect or operational issue.

This was the content that couldn't decide its own content.Originally a visionary document management and auditing system based around a Windows Explorer interface with extended namespace and Java back-end.Then the company spent a year in a photo sharing application called "Share-a-lot" which was a dismal failure. Interesting couple of years.

The start-up that wasn't.This company had been in existence for some years, first as a consultancy and then as producer of the infamous Silicon Summit Fix Engine. I came on board and wrote the majority of a hosted Order Management System which was ultimately acquired by the plaintiffs in a legal lawsuit against the company. Say no more.

5 years in Corporate America. Was a leader and respected Engineer. I authored a US patent, sponsored and owned by Visa.

Amadeus - start-up, eighties style. Government funding, IBM, multi-national. I joined as employee 89 and endured 18 months hard labor in Miami, all expenses paid. We were then shipped back to Europe where I fought hard in Erding (Bavaria) and had brief interlude in Sophia Antipols (Côte d'Azur).My value was in my knowledge of IBM's TPF (Transaction Processing Facility). I accrued trouble-shooting skills and researched deep, OS level problems. I also learned how an IBM-style SaaS operated.

I was trained in IBM 360 Basic Assembler Language (BAL) and Airline Control Program (ACP). I learned how to read system dumps in hex and wrote programs in Assembler & IBM's REXX language.
