I’m a marine biologist who spent much of his 30+ years in environmental consulting managing multidisciplinary environmental assessments and permitting projects particularly for energy projects in the US, Australia, and Canada. I’ve managed or contributed to a wide array of projects across the US and globally including for LNG plants, trains, rockets, power plants, pipelines, mines, and dredging. I was the PM for the Port Royal coral reef stabilization project that won AECOM’s 2012 medium project of the year. I was also the PM for a project for a major oil company where we wrote 6 comprehensive EIRs in 14 months that was a runner up for AECOM’s 2014 project of the year. In 2017 I retired from full-time status and shifted to on-call status with AECOM, occasionally providing senior review and planning of large energy projects. Since retiring & moving to Oregon, I've devoted much of my time to educating people about humanity's need to rapidly reduce greenhouse gas pollution to avoid the worst effects of climate change and ocean acidification. In this pursuit, I've trained as a leader for the Climate Reality Project, served on the Board of Directors of OCEAN (Oregon Coastal Energy Alliance Network), am active on the Board of SOCAN (Southern Oregon Climate Action Now (SOCAN), and organized Stanford Alumni for Climate Action (SACA) to educate alumni about and become engaged in the fight against climate change. I'm also lobbying with Citizens Climate Lobby for permitting reform and a data based approach to floating offshore wind here in Oregon.
