I performed a variety of transportation planning and engineering tasks, including travel demand modeling, micro‐simulation, database manipulation, GIS, programming, and traffic analysis for planning and environmental studies. Develop tools in both a web and local environment for both clients and internal uses for easy processing, analysis, and visualization of data.

Greater Salt Lake City Area

Worked as task leader and traffic engineer for the Synchro portion of the Chicago Transit Authority Ashland BRT project (16-mile corridor in urban Chicago), including 100+ intersections. My work in streamlining and automating entire process contributed significantly to accelerated project delivery under a tight budget.Created and performed VISSIM analysis for two key locations along the Ashland Avenue BRT corridor. One location involved a series of at-capacity signalized intersections adjacent to one of the largest medical districts in urban Chicago.

Attended, supported, and presented at monthly traffic operations and safety coordination meetings at the Illinois Tollway that involved the spectrum of discipline leaders at the Tollway, as well as law enforcement officers. Performed ad hoc analyses as directed by the committee to inform decision making. Work of the committee resulted in numerous implemented short and long-term measures that increased the safety of the Illinois Tollway for its patrons, resulting in a significant reduction in the number of crashes on the system.Supported ITS operations and performed data analysis of side-fired microwave roadway sensors, weigh-in-motion, bluetooth, and toll tag transactions. Led team to calibrate RTMS sensors in field and develop calibration procedures implemented by Illinois Tollway.Automated and improved the preparations of various data analysis tasks for the Illinois Tollway including the following: crash reports (monthly and annual), speed summaries for use by Illinois State Police district in targeted enforcement (monthly), and roadway performance measure reports (monthly and annual).Worked on-site at the Illinois Department of Transportation for 3 days a week over six months reviewing Traffic Staging and Control plans for MOT for various state reconstruction, widening, and resurfacing projects throughout northeastern Illinois and Chicago.Performed the Synchro analysis of 72 signalized intersections in the study area for the Chicago Transit Authority Red Line Extension project. Automated data entry and calculations similar to my work on the Ashland BRT project explained above.

Columbus, Ohio Area

Worked on a variety of projects with the Ohio Department of Transportation including a corridor access study and VISSIM analysis for a bridge demolition project. VISSIM analysis included both limited access segments as well as signalized intersections at ramp terminals. Created maintenance of traffic plans for bridge demolition project using MicroStation.

Worked as both a design and traffic engineer at a local engineering firm that specializes in roadway, bridge, and municipal engineering for central Ohio municipalities and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Performed various tasks to support the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals, including creating an Access database to integrate and streamline data sharing between planning, engineering, and building departments.

Worked on ArcGIS data layer creation for county-wide flood control facilities utilizing VBA to create custom dialogs for data entry, including facility attributes, construction, and maintenance tasks.

Provo, Utah Area

Worked with Professors Mitsuru Saito and Alan Zundel on Automating Average Stopped Delay Estimation Using Image Analysis of Actual Traffic Flow at Signalized Intersections. This included coding work in Visual C++. Results were published in Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, Vol. 20, No. 2, March/April 2006, pp. 132-140.

Provo, Utah Area

Wrote and debugged code for the Watershed Modeling System 7.0, including development of the polygon overlay tool.

Salina, Kansas

Performed GPS data collection of access points to the state highway system for 8 counties in central Kansas.

Greater Salt Lake City Area

Modeled sound wall performance using TNM 1.0 and performed field sound measurements for the environmental division of UDOT Region 2.
